You've likely seen a bunch of Savannah's senior pictures because this has been one of my favorite sessions ever and I've posted a ton of her pictures on Instagram and Facebook already! I first met Savannah when she asked if I would be her facilitator for her Capstone senior project this year. Seniors in Cherokee County have to follow and learn from a professional in a career field they're considering entering. I have been a facilitator several years in a row and I always love getting to see each student's final product! She went with me during my session with Brooke and took some awesome pictures of her own for her portfolio.
For her senior session, Savannah wanted something really unique and found this red dress and knew she wanted to incorporate it into her pictures. We started in downtown Woodstock with some of her favorite everyday outfits for some more casual images and then went to Sope Creek in Marietta for a unique location with her red dress. She was awesome to do a little extra walking in the woods with that dress on and we got some amazing photos even though I ended up taking us down the wrong trail! The fall leaves were just beginning to change color and we went back a couple weeks later with the lavender dress that arrived in the mail too late for her first session. By our second session at the ruins, the autumn colors were amazing and such a beautiful contrast to that dress! It was fun to do a second session with her because then she was able to do something different with her hair for a completely new look. Another photographer was shooting in the same location and had a smoke bomb going for his pictures so we took advantage of it and got some incredibly romantic foggy looking pics! She looked like she stepped out of fairytale! If you've ever seen me during a session you can imagine how often I was doing my little happy dance!
Savannah is one amazing young woman and it's been my absolute pleasure to get to know her a little bit this year! I adore her and how vulnerable but strong she is. Below her pictures you'll be able to read about an amazing non-profit that is especially close to her heart.
Savannah lost her amazing beautiful mama last year who fought for years against depression. Savannah and I want you to know there is hope and help to be found if you're fighting also. To Write Love on Her Arms is an awesome non-profit who is there with resources and encouragement for anyone struggling to find that hope. Philippians 4:6 says, "Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done." and often what you may need is help with medication, counseling, and support to help you in that battle. Depression is more than just worry - don't dismiss how you feel; find someone you can open up to who will support your decision to seek services to benefit your mental, spiritual, and physical health.
TWLOHA believes this as part of their mission:
"You were created to love and be loved.
You were meant to live life in relationship with other people, to know and be known.
You need to know your story is important, and you're part of a bigger story.
You need to know your life matters."
