This senior session with Isabel was almost the "session that wasn't"! Isabel's mom had wanted her to have a pampered experience so she paid for hair and makeup but my favorite makeup artist, Lauren, was unavailable on the day we had scheduled so I chose another. Someone I hadn't worked with before. I sent pictures to the MUA beforehand and a description of the look we were going for. Loose beachy curls and natural makeup. After 2 1/2 hours that is definitely NOT the look Isabel ended up with! Her hair was in glam curls and her face was golden and very dramatic - a look maybe more suited for prom. The makeup artist had worked really hard and is super sweet but between it taking so long and it not being the look we were hoping for I just knew it wasn't going to work for us and there was no fixing it at that point with storm clouds and sunset fast approaching.
Running now 1 1/2 hours behind schedule, Isabel went to change into her first outfit and I said goodbye to the makeup artist. When Isabel was finished changing I told her, "There is NO WAY we can shoot today!" I apologized profusely to her and her mom and we ended up laughing about the whole thing! In the end, she and her mom both were relieved not to be doing pictures and I am SO THANKFUL for their understanding and patience. I have the most incredible friends and clients!!!
We ended up rescheduling and Isabel chose this time to do her own hair and makeup and did a PERFECT job! She's so beautiful and picked great outfits and her pictures turned out awesome! We had so much fun in downtown Woodstock and Poole's Mill park. Isabel is also a photographer and helps to run her yearbook crew at King's Academy. She's wonderful in a million ways and I love that I've gotten to watch her grow into this beautiful young woman!
I want you to know that I have your very best interests in mind and, above all else, you should feel comfortable and confident in how you look so that you will love the images from your senior session! I treated the whole thing as a makeup trial but after that experience. I now have several great recommendations of hair stylists and MUAs that will give you the perfect look for your pictures. Here are a couple of my favorites!
- Vigilante Cosmetics, https://vigilantecosmetics.com : I've worked with Lauren Robertson many many times and love everything about her! I've also had Bobbi do makeup for a senior session before and she's fantastic! Absolutely any of the hairstylists and makeup artists at Vigilante can be trusted to listen well to what you want and give you a beautiful look.
- Make Me Up, https://www.makemeupga.com : These ladies work often with seniors and have an amazing portfolio of beautiful, natural looks! They are based in Powder Springs but have a very reasonable travel fee and you can schedule them to meet you at home or at my office before your session.
- Candace Ingram, https://www.instagram.com/mua_candace/ : Candace did gorgeous makeup for my friend Daniele for her professional headshots! She really knows her stuff and I love her Every Day Glowy Skin tutorial on YouTube! It's the perfect look for senior pics.
