1: the power or capacity of causing an effect in indirect or intangible ways
As a business owner I hear a lot about so-called influencers when the discussion of marketing pops up. I don't know if this is a trend that is here to stay or will have fizzled out in the next couple years.
But I do know this: that the people these marketing experts are typically referring to (Instagram accounts with thousands of followers) are not having as much of an impact on us as the people who know and love us, those who we know personally; the people who push us, challenge us, encourage us, and inspire us. Below are pictures of some True Influencers!
The people in the pictures above are family, friends, teachers. When I asked Madison (below) who her major positive influence is she told me someone who fits into each of these categories.
"Mr. Carnes has inspired me to be a good student and a good person. He always takes time to see if everyone is okay before they leave his class and he'll do anything it takes to make sure we feel confident about the lesson. I always leave his classroom with a smile and a new interest in learning.
Taly has shown me that you don't need to see someone every day for you to consider them one of your best friends. She is always such a caring person who tries to make me smile on my worst day. She has shown me that there are no limits on friendship and I know she'll always be there for me.
My parents have shaped who I am today. They have taught me so much about life and I am extremely thankful for them. They inspire me to become the best person I can be and to never take anyone else's kindness for granted."
This is a project I will continue to work on! It has had a major impact on me personally and I am so thankful for everyone who participated and shared their stories with me.
