This guy is so great! He's confident and comfortable to be around and he's the kind of guy that gives generously of himself - especially to mentor younger kids at his church, Woodstock City Church, and to be an example for them and supportive of them. He and his family are wonderful people and neighbors of mine and it will be hard for this group of parents of 2018 graduates to watch them all go their separate ways because they've been friends for such a long time and have watched their kids grow up together since Kindergarten. Brandon's mom posted a link to a great article called Ten Things I Want to Say to My Son Before He Graduates and I don't recommend clicking on the link unless you have tissues handy. I'm so excited for Brandon and can't wait to see all he accomplishes!
You can learn more about one of the programs Brandon has volunteered with at the end of this post - again, get those tissues handy!
Not long ago, Brandon was a student volunteer at Lighthouse Family Retreat. Lighthouse Family Retreat began 19 years ago to provide families with a "carefree environment" to take their minds off their battle with childhood cancer. There are activities for siblings, parents and for the child with cancer. As one mama says in the video, "I think I finally took a deep breath when I got here."
Watch the video below to learn a little more about them and please check out their website for more information about how you can donate or volunteer!
